While most misting systems were initially marketed in the mid 80s for cow facilities, it was soon discovered that the systems worked so well that the marketing target was expanded to include horse and all other livestock facilities, kennels, farms, veterinary clinics, residential locations such as pools, patios and decks, outdoor dining facilities and outdoor entertainment facilities.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
System Questions
What are the best locations for the Dead Fly Zone system?
Originally our system was created for cow facilities in the mid 1980s. Because of it's amazing effectiveness, it was expanded to all livestock and then residential applications. Some of its most popular uses are horse farms, chicken farms, cow and dairy farms but is widely used in residential situations including, but not limited to pool areas, decks, patios, parks, outdoor dining areas and outdoor entertainment.
What size system will I need for my property?
Every application is different however a good rule of thumb for insect control for livestock facilities can be accomplished with a simple formula, one spray nozzles for every 1000 cubic feet. A 10' x 10' horse stall with a 10' ceiling is a good example for the area one nozzle can cover. Although this example is ideal, one nozzle can cover a 12' x 12' stall just fine and ceiling height can be as high as 14 feet. For residential systems it is recommended to place one misting nozzle approximately every 10-12 feet along the back and front eaves of your home and along fences, plus a few for flower beds and other special areas.
What insects are typically affected with these systems?
Effectively controls flies in barns and stables. It also is effective in eradicating the mosquito feeding and breeding cycles occurring on your property. This system helps to control numerous other insects including: Ants, Aphids, Flies,Moths, Beetles, Mites, Wasps, Roaches, Ticks, Fleas, Spiders, Biting Midges (No-See-Ums), Gnats.
How fast can I expect the Dead Fly Zone system to work?
This is one of the most amazing things about these misting systems. Once the system is installed and begins its automatic cycle, results are seen immediately. Within 24 hours, you will notice little or no insects in the area where you have installed the system. It also immediately begins to disrupt the breeding cycle of these insects.
Insecticide Questions
Are your insecticides safe?
Yes, absolutely. We have been offering the same insecticide for many years. Vector Ban and Vector Ban Plus are both permethrin based and have been used in livestock and residential applications for nearly 30 years. In fact, we use them in our own barn. Some of our largest customers are equine rehabilitative centers and boarding facilities, equine training facilities, and veterinarians.
How much of the insecticide I bought do I put in my reservoir?
All of our insecticides are concentrated and designed for 55 gallon systems. Therefore, you would empty the entire container of insecticide in your reservoir. If you own a 30 gallon system, you would use half of the insecticide you bought. If you purchased our Livestock/Equine refill, you will notice it came with two containers. One is a 1/2 gallon of Vector Ban insecticide and the other is a quart of SynerPro/PBO. Empty BOTH of these containers in your 55 gallon reservoir and 1/2 of each one in your 30 gallon reservoir.
